Who am I?

Describing myself is never something I’ve enjoyed doing. Until recently, I might have called myself a ‘designer’. I’ve always identified with being creative, but anymore, this word has become hard to take seriously, partly due the number of self-proclaimed ‘Creative Directors’ on the Internet — a title that sounds important, but also can sound suspiciously like a ‘non-job’. And, in this Truman Show of a world we’re living in, we’ve all become the Creative Directors of our own lives, willingly or otherwise.

I’m interested in our rapidly changing world, in those designing a future that’s actually meant to serve our needs, in how we all communicate and how we can all become more authentically ourselves even as technology continues to push our brains and behavior in ways it’s quickly becoming impossible to fully understand.

But - if you need the hard facts: I’m a left-handed Sagittarius, born in an ‘Earth Dragon’ year, (which I learned equates to a whale in primal astrology if you're into that). I’m from the Midwest and spent a lot of time thinking I didn’t want to be thought of as a ‘nice Midwesterner’, and suddenly I’m comfortable with that label. If I could only use outdoor showers for the rest of my life, that would be fine by me. That pretty much sums it up.

What is this?

An open-ended collection of ideas and things I’m thinking about. For a quick introduction, I can recommend this short post.
